As an important dehydration equipment in mineral sorting, centrifuges are relatively more commonly used in coal preparation plants. However, in non-coal mines, centrifuges are relatively less commonly used, such as in potassium salt mines where two-stage piston push centrifuges are often used, while in other mines, they are rare. If mineral dehydration is involved, filter presses are also mainly used. This chapter mainly introduces the brands of centrifuge used in coal preparation plants.

Simple Classification

According to the different working principles of centrifuges, they can be divided into two different centrifugal dewatering processes: centrifugal filtration and centrifugal settling. The corresponding models are filter centrifuges and settling centrifuges. The commonly used centrifuges in coal preparation plants include vibration discharge centrifuges, scraper discharge centrifuges, settling centrifuges, and settling filtration centrifuges.

The vibration discharge centrifuge is mainly used for dewatering coal products with a particle size of no less than 0.5mm, the scraper discharge centrifuge is mainly used for dewatering fine coal, and the settling filter centrifuge is mainly used for dewatering flotation clean coal. The settling centrifuge is mainly used for the dewatering of easily slimed primary coal slurry, flotation tailings, flotation clean coal, and the clarification of coal slurry water. Due to the high moisture of the dehydrated product, it is currently less used in coal preparation plants, so it will not be introduced in this chapter.

Foreign Brand

Similar to other equipment, the centrifuges of Chinese coal preparation plants were first introduced from abroad, mainly including the VC vertical vibration discharge centrifuge from CMI in the United States, the HSG series horizontal centrifuge and H series coal slurry centrifuge from TEMA in the Netherlands, and the VM series horizontal vibration centrifuge from LUDOWICI in Australia. The brands of screen settling centrifuges mainly include DMI and BIRD from the United States, KHD from Germany, and TEMA from the Netherlands.

CMI, DMI, and BIRD centrifuges in the United States withdrew from the Chinese market in the early stages of development, but there are still relatively many users using DMI screen settling centrifuges in Russia. The TEMA and LUDOWICI centrifuges have the best promotion and application effects in China. After the expiration of TEMA's agency agreement in China, Beijing Tianma Shuofeng continued to manufacture the TEMA series centrifuges. After the expiration of the agreement between LUDOWICI and JOHNFINLAY, JOHNFINLAY manufactured the LUDOWICI series centrifuges. However, in the end, Beijing Zhongji Weilin developed and strengthened the LUDOWICI structure centrifuges.

At present, most foreign brand centrifuges have withdrawn from the Chinese market after the expiration of their agency agreements, but their technological continuity, improvement, and innovative development continue.

Chinese Brand

Most Chinese brand centrifuges continue the technology of foreign brands and continuously innovate and develop in practice.

Shandong BoRun and Beijing Tianma Shuofeng mainly use TEMA technology. Initially, Shandong BoRun did very well and the brand's reputation was relatively high in the mining field. However, later on, the company transformed into other industries, and due to the failure of the transformation, Shandong BoRun also collapsed and disappeared. Beijing Tianma Shuofeng has been quietly developing, and due to its TEMA technology, it has done well in both domestic and international markets.

Beijing Zhongji Weilin and JOHNFINLAY mainly use LUDOWICI technology, and JOHNFINLAY relies on the advantages of its general contracting project to involve more equipment, but has not independently developed and expanded centrifugal equipment. Beijing Zhongji Weilin seized the market opportunity of Shandong BoRun's downfall and, with years of accumulated technical strength, developed and grew rapidly.

At present, the market for vibration discharge and scraper discharge centrifuges in China basically presents two strong brand enterprises, Beijing Zhongji Weilin and Beijing Tianma Shuofeng. Other enterprises, such as Zhuzhou Tianqiao Shunchen, have done more in certain series of centrifuges.

For the screen settling centrifuge, initially only Shandong BoRun and Tangshan SenPu did well. With the downfall of Shandong BoRun, currently only Tangshan SenPu is researching and promoting its application in this field.
